Obamasan to cut back on spending.

Tonight we will hear from his lordship, Obamasan. The focal point of this little get together is to focus on cutting back on government spending. I am willing to wager, right here and now, that not one word of reducing federal payrolls will roll off of his glib tongue. The most recent update, September 29, 2009, depicting Federal Pay as opposed to Private Sector pay shows that federal employees, on average, earn approximately $80,000 annually as opposed to $50,000 in the private sector. My last report showed that it was $70,000 vs. $40,000, but that was for a year earlier. The following was excerpted from USA Today's 12/10/2009 issue:

"The number of federal workers earning six-figure salaries has exploded during the recession, according to a USA TODAY analysis of federal salary data.Federal employees making salaries of $100,000 or more jumped from 14% to 19% of civil servants during the recession's first 18 months — and that's before overtime pay and bonuses are counted. Federal workers are enjoying an extraordinary boom time — in pay and hiring — during a recession that has cost 7.3 million jobs in the private sector."

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-12-10-federal-pay-salaries_N.htm

Another interesting statistic is: The federal government employs over 2,700,000 workers and hires hundreds of thousands each year to replace civil service workers that transfer to other federal government jobs, retire, or leave for other reasons. Average annual salary for full-time federal government jobs now exceeds $79,197. The U.S. Government is the largest employer in the United States, hiring about 2.0 percent of the nation's work force and the workforce is expanding significantly under the Obama administration. Federal government jobs can be found in every state and large metropolitan area, including overseas in over 200 countries. The average annual federal workers compensation in 2008, including pay plus benefits, was $119,982 compared to just $59,909 for the private sector according to the United States Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Maybe it is time to start by cutting the Federal payroll back.
And now for the "Creme de la creme." I see that Federal employees owe $3 billion in taxes for 2008. And that is just for starters. Follow the attached and see for yourself:

The Russian-Afghanistan wars.

Looking back in history we see that it was December 24, 1979, Christmas Eve, when Russia began it's assault on the Islamist Mujahideen terrorists in Afghanistan. The Afghan government, having secured a treaty in December 1978 that allowed them to call on Soviet forces, repeatedly requested the introduction of troops in Afghanistan in the spring and summer of 1979. They requested Soviet troops to provide security and to assist in the fight against the mujahideen rebels.

In the mid-1980s, the Afghan resistance movement, assisted by the United States, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the People's Republic of China and others, contributed to Moscow's high military costs and strained international relations. The US viewed the conflict in Afghanistan as an integral Cold War struggle, and the CIA provided assistance to anti-Soviet forces through the Pakistani intelligence services, in a program called Operation Cyclone. US President Jimmy Carter claimed that the Soviet incursion was "the most serious threat to peace since the Second World War."

The Afghan Islamists were funded and encouraged mainly by the United States and Saudi Arabia. A similar movement occurred in other Muslim countries, bringing contingents of so-called Afghan Arabs, foreign fighters who wished to wage jihad against the atheist communists. Notable among them was a young Saudi named Osama bin Laden, whose Arab group eventually evolved into al-Qaeda. This very same bin Ladin then began his campaign against the United States and is held responsible for the 911 attacks. In the aftermath of the Russina failure, Osama bin Laden asserted the credit for "the collapse of the Soviet Union ... goes to God and the mujahideen in Afghanistan  and the US had no mentionable role," but "collapse made the US more haughty and arrogant."

Does anyone see a pattern here? We have installed a puppet government and are hell bent on implementing a democratic form of government because that is what "we think" is best for the Afghans (another pattern maybe). Just consider the following; "thirty years ago we were supporting the same "anti-communist rebels" that today we are fighting and these rebels are using the same weapons we gave them back then."

Another case of the politicians deciding what is best. Shades of "de ja vue" all  over again.

Obama back on track; one-way track that is.

I'm sure that we've all heard the expression; "My way or the highway?" This idiom is used to say that if people don't do what you say, they will have to leave or quit the project, etc.

Well in the case of Obama and the Dems is means that; "the American public should sit back and watch, because "we" know what is best for you and "we" are going to get "our" healthcare bill passed, and yes, without your approval.

I noted in todays local newspaper that the Associated Press published a column stating that the Dem leaders were uniting in hopes of saving their healthcare bill. The article goes on to say that Obama, who initially voiced doubts about it's viability, now seems to be pushing for it. This "quick strike", as it is referred to, involves using a special budget procedure to revise the Senate bill. Known as reconciliation, it would allow a majority of 51 senators to amend their bill. This would circumvent the need for a 60-vote majority to hold off Republicans and Obamacare would go to the Oval office for Obama's signature. The classic end run in football reenacted in Congress.

Wake up folks, it's politics as usual. Forget that everything out there shows that we the people are opposed to this specific bill. Forget that the bluest of Democratic states voted in a republican senator who ran on a platform opposing this healthcare bill, and who won an overwhelming victory. All that matters is their "agenda" and that agenda continues to mandate that they know what is best for us, and that means cramming things down our throats.

David Gregory is a "woose".

Remember the "good old days" when Tim Russett sat before us each Sunday morning as the moderator for the Meet the Press program. We spent an hour in front of the TV watching as he fearlessly waded through the issues and held his guest's feet to the fire. He asked the tough questions and would not let them off the hook until they gave him a straight answer. He just had a certain way about him and he captivated his audience with his knowledge of every subject he took on. Above all, he treated every guest with respect and dignity, man or woman, Republican, Democrat, Independent, President or other. Tim Russett was truly, one of a kind.

Enter David Gregory. Is it just me, or does he have a Liberal preference? For over a year now I have watched the program and find that I am less and less enthused about whether or not I watch. It's not that he isn't likeable, it just appears to me that he has a Liberal agenda and is biased. Being biased is one thing, but having it show through is another and that takes fairness out of the equation. Take for instance the way he interviews certain guests. Have you noticed that he is more likely to dig at a female guest than he is a male, or that he is more likely to demand a specific answer from a Republican guest as opposed to a Democratic guest? Fearful that this just might be my conservative bias, I have posed this same question to others and more often than not I get concurring opinions. For instance today I watched as he interviewed President Obama's Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett. Nothing of surprise here and certainly some eyebrow raising when she stated that they, the Democrats and Obama, had "turned the economy around". They had also "brought it back from the brink of disaster" and his new policies are to focus on the "middle class". No tough responses from David, just "ok" and he moves on to his next question. No questions about how is it being done. Just move on to his next question. Tim would have grilled each and every point that Valerie Jarret glibly rolled off of her tongue. Not David, just roll on to the next question. Seems to me that he is more concerned with quantity as opposed to quality.

Next, enter Senate Republican Leader, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY). David starts by attempting to clarify that there are no Republicans that will support Obama. Is there a conspiracy to just derail the President? He has a confrontational response to everything Senator McConnell has to say. David repeatedly asks, "is healthcare dead"? McConnell responds that the American public is against this plan and David just skips around that and wants to lay the blame at the feet of Republicans. David, what part of "a majority of Americans are against this plan" don't you understand? David then continues to focus on his preconceived notion that Republicans are anti Obama. In the end, it is back to quantity as opposed to quality.

Obama aims tirade at banks, insurance companies and Wall Street.

Obama awakened with a loss of the super-majority headache on Wednesday. He had just lost the support of Massachusetts in his quest for supreme dominance and was being backed into a corner from all quarters. What to do in this time of despair? You reasoned that the only real course of action was to take the offensive. Start by pitting Americans against each other. Start with class warfare. Lash out at your new found nemesis, "big banks, health insurance companies and Wall Street" and this hue and cry will rally the troops behind you.

Well Mr. Obama, it's not going to work. Massachusetts pretty much resonates the mood of the country and it's your policies that we are against. You and your policies of Big Brother taking over and mandating an agenda of Obama "change" is what's unwelcome. While you focussed on healthcare you did indeed lost touch with America and America in turn lost faith in you. To start with, we are sick and tired of watching you on TV. You have become a Democratic soap opera and we have tuned you out. I am sure you have, but I will ask anyways. Have you ever watched yourself on TV. You come across as a pompous, arrogant and opinionated jerk, looking down your nose at all of us. You try to make us feel that we are inadequate as a nation and without you and your policies we are destined to implode.

Want a little advice from an old dude? Lighten up. Get in touch with America and out of touch with your political gurus and machine. Find out what is happening out there. We aren't looking for government handouts or more stimulous packages; which by the way are viewed as nothing more than ploys. Other than government jobs, how many private jobs can you take credit for. And, we sure as hell aren't looking for scapegoats. Do you really think that you can blame this on the banks, insurance companies and Wall Streett in an attempt to take the spotlight off of a bungled healthcare plan. Everything each of these entities does is mandated under rules and regulations that you and yours have mandated. You and yours reflects past and present just so you don't feel that I am pinning this on just you. Look back over the past 50 years, but more specifically the last 20 and you will find that banks, insurance companies and Wall Street have operated under governmaent mandated regulations. And no, it is not necessary to elaborate on each issue because we all know what we are talking about. In general it was lax oversight by Congress when they mandated the lowering of qualifications for lending that started the whole financial fiasco. End of story, beginning of mess.

Do I have solutions? We all do but it appears that you and Congress are not interested in hearing them, so, we will continue sending them, albeit via more Scott Brown's to Congress.

http://www.examiner.com/x-26060-Oakland-County-Republican-Examiner~y2010m1d23-Obama-blames-angry-voters-for-putting-Scott-Brown-into-office

Where were John McCain and Jon Kyl when Ft. Huachuca lost 1,200 jobs?

Are the illustrious Senators from Arizona cloutless, or maybe clueless? Or were they relying on District 8 representative Gabrielle Giffords to put up the battle for jobs? Obviously someone was asleep at the wheel while the wheeling and dealing to shift these jobs from Ft. Huachuca to Ft. Bliss in El Paso went on. And probably behind closed doors. In any event we are shocked at the loss of these jobs but more so at the ineptness of our elected officials to prevent it. With any luck at all this can be averted if the process has to go before any other committees before it is finalized. As a previous business owner in Sierra Vista I am well aware of the impact Ft. Huachuca has on the economics of the community. Ft. Huachuca is the "heart and soul" of the economics there and this loss, if approved, will be devastating. All Arizona must rise up and let our legislators know that this cannot be tolerated.

Gabrielle losing the battle of the budgets to Texas

We appear to be losing more than the 1,200 or so jobs to Texas Congressional District 16, home to Ft. Bliss. While researching the internet I reviewed the website for Congressman Silvestre Reyes, D-TX. and found that he has submitted bills on behalf of his constituents amounting to approximately $167 million dollars. The Congressman's site is detailed and lays out every request he has submitted.

http://reyes.house.gov/Issues/Issue/?IssueID=4814

In contrast I have reviewed Gabrielle Giffords website on Appropriations and she states: "As a fiscally-conservative Member of the Blue Dog coalition and a former business owner, I believe Congress must spend with the utmost care. I am dedicated to a transparent earmark process; therefore, all appropriations requests that I submit to the Appropriations Committee for funding will be made public and posted on my website." However, I am unable to find a listing of the requests. You can see for yourself at:

http://giffords.house.gov/legis/appropriations.shtml

Make of it what you want, but losing 1,200 jobs is not anything to sneeze at.

Giffords loses Ft. Huachuca jobs to Texas.

While Gabrielle Giffords wiles away with her own little agenda, mainly Obamacare and refundable taxpayer energy for herself, she fails to stop the loss of 488 jobs at Ft. Huachuca. And it appears likely that we will lose another 700 jobs over the next few years. In her campaign for re-election she focused on a better economic agenda and better jobs for Arizona yet is defenseless on this issue. These jobs are going to Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. This military establishment is in the Congressional district of Democrat Congressman, Silvestre Reyes, who serves as the influential Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Congressman Reyes is also a senior Member of the House Armed Services Committee, the primary committee responsible for the funding and oversight of the Department of Defense (DOD). The committee plays a central role in determining funding levels for Fort Bliss.
So while our Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords, plies her wares at the Copenhagen Climate Conference; with her husband tagging along(probably at tax payer expense), the wily Congressman from Texas raids her cupboard.

One hardly thinks that this was an overnight occurrence, but the first time we hear about it is when we open the local newspaper and read the headlines. Who knows, maybe she traded this for Reyes' support on her solar energy campaign and we will get the jobs back in 2020?

The verdict is in.

The verdict is in and it says "enough is enough".

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2010/01/19/scott-brown-wins-in-massachusetts-a-reaction-round-up/

Scott Brown wins in Massachusetts; a stunning upset of the Democrat political machine. The man who said it was not Ted Kennedy's seat, it was the seat of the people, has pulled off a victory of major magnitude in the holy grail of Democrat land. In a victory speech he made it clear that he was the peoples choice and Obama's change was headed out the door. The citizens of Massachusetts made it quite clear that they had it up to here with the Obama change, but especially with the healthcare plan being negotiated behind closed doors. Obama, who ran on a platform of change and transparency ended up eating crow after he agreed to deal after deal with any and everyone who could put up a roadblock to his "down your throat" or "up yours" health plan. Brown's victory(actually a landslide), in the "bluest of blue" Democrat strongholds, upsets the applecart for the administration. Not only does it take away the 60 vote majority, it certainly will bring about the "change" that Obama so aptly refers to. Unfortunately for him and his "machine" it was not what he envisioned. The people of Massachusetts have sent a clear signal to the President; "America has had it with him and his arrogant disregard for the wishes of the people". However, both Harry Reed, majority Senate leader and Nancy Peloci, House Leader say they will ram this through before Mr. Brown can be seated to "upset the applecart". They have suggested that the House will just approve the Senate bill in it's current illegal form and that is all there is to it. Oblivious to what we the people say, the Democratic controlled Congress marches on.

Cheaper drugs from Canada shot down by our own Senator Jon Kyl.

It is hard to understand why our own Senator Kyl would vote to deny our seniors, or anyone for that matter, from getting cheaper drugs from Canada. Not that the drugs are different from those gotten here. No, they are the same, just don't cost as much in Canada.

http://www.themiddleclass.org/legislator/jon-kyl-459?gclid=COaekMD6rp8CFQ_yDAodKWoH1w

Our other Senator, John McCain said the bill could save consumers some $80 billion over 10 years. In addition the Congressional budget scorers estimated the Senate measure would save the government $19 billion in medicine costs over a decade.

Partisan politics, or the lack thereof, had nothing to do with this; it was strictly "money talk".

http://guerillawomentn.blogspot.com/2009/12/democrats-lead-in-killing-canadian-drug.html

The drug makers are making political contributions, big ones. As of last Nov. 8, 58 percent of Pfizer's $460,263 reported for the congressional 2010 election cycle went to Democrats. Democrats got 63 percent of Amgen Inc.'s $405,809 and 59 percent of Johnson & Johnson's $306,610, the Center for Responsive Politics reports.

Looks to me like our Mr. Kyl must be on the receiving end of some of the "payola"

Haiti finger pointing just getting started.

Scanning through he news today I see that the finger pointing has already started. And guess who is the culprit. You are. Well maybe not directly, but as an American citizen you will be held accountable to the world for what the United States does, or does not do in Haiti. The major problems seems to be the control over the airport. The U.S. military has overall control and it apparently has decided that getting a policing startegy in place was required before allowing supplies, medicine and other items to land. If any of you have been watching the violence and looting that is going on, especially the violence at the food line, you can probably concur with the decision.

While thousands lie dying and wounded, finger pointing at the bottleneck at the airport continues.French, Brazilian and other officials complained about the U.S. run airport. A Geneva based group of Doctors voiced a similar complaint. The UN World Food Program aired complaints that the military was allowing a disproportionate number of military aircraft as opposed to aid deliveries. Spain complained that their flights had been diverted to Santo Domingo, 200 miles away.

The old adgage "You can fool/please all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool/please all the people all the time." (Abraham Lincoln) might sum it up. In the end we will be damned if we do and damned if we don't.

The in charge U.S.commander acknowledges the bottleneck problem but is working as best as he can to get things worked out. The need for a strong policing action is paramount to the safe and speedy delivery of aid. The following links can support his strategy.

Ben Stein sums it all up on Obama healthcare.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama's plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never will be -- a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society. Either the costs go up or the free society goes away.

Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to "protect us" from global warming, itself largely a fraud if believed to be caused by man.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms. There is his urgency and our opportunity.

Once freedom is lost, America is lost. Wake up, beloved America ...

Martha stomps with Obama.

Obama and the Democratic machine are fast tracking through Massachusetts in an effort to bolster support for poll lagging Martha Coakley. The struggling U.S. Senate candidate is critical for getting the 60th vote for passing the current health care abomination. In his stop in Boston he said to crowds that they needed to "understand what's at stake for them. It's whether we go forward or go backwards". Well Mr. President, just what the hell direction do you think we have gone over the past 3 years while Democrats have controlled the Congress?

Nancy Pelosi "keeping members in line"

Every now and then you see a Democrat oppose the parties spin and vote against certain legislation. Amazed as you might be, just keep in mind that the Pelosi machine tracks the pulse of every district and plays the "cat and mouse" game to retain control in the Congress. On any given issue they know well in advance on where they stand on the votes in hand. With this knowledge they then look at the statistical data on which Democrats are facing an uphill battle in their district. They, Demo machine, allow them to vote against the big spending bill so that they can represent to the folks back home that they had opposed a "big spending" issue. Contact your representative and ask them "point blank" if they have ever voted against something because they were allowed to under this scenario. Don't back off when they give you a song and dance about that is what they heard from back home. We all know that they could care less about what we say since they know in their hearts that we really don't understand what is best for us. My rep told me that she was voting based on the 10,000 responses received from her constituents but would not elaborate on how many were for or against the issue. She also failed to recognize that there were approximately 330,000 votes cast in 2008 out of approximately 600,000 adults in the district. Obviously a 10% response, or 3% of the voters and 1.6% of the total adults is enough to base her vote on. Anyways, food for thought.

Haiti lies in ruins and rubble; but who pays to rebuild?

Now that the scope of damage and carnage is known and hopefully being addressed by the World, I have some questions regarding the rebuilding of that nation.

To get the ball rolling I am proving some readily available information. According to CIA statistics "Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with 80% of the population living under the poverty line and 54% in abject poverty." My question is "who owns all of the property that was damaged or destroyed"? Well, according to Wikipedia.org, "Haiti's richest 1% own nearly half the country's wealth". That 1% club includes the members of the governing body and I assume they own all or most of this property.

So you ask, just where am I going with this? Good question and one that I do not have an answer for, yet. And quite frankly maybe never. The whole purpose of this article is to get each of you off of your duffs and start doing something about it. Get involved. Write your Congressional representative and voice your opinion. Not just about this, but any and everything that concerns you. Anyways, back to the issue.

I suggest that for starters, we continue to focus on the mess at hand. We need to get things stabilized; food, water and shelter for the masses and medical attention for the injured and preparation of mass graves for the dead. It appears that we are well on our way towards accomplishing that. There needs to be a strong policing action to assuage the looting and thuggery which is so prevalent in situations such as this.

Once we restore order to the area we can then focus on where we go from there. Unfortunately there will be too much; behind the scenes, politicking going on. This will allow the "haves" the opportunity to get their hands on the funds that will be forthcoming. In the very least, the "haves" will be able to direct the funds to benefit their holdings.

Wikipedia goes on the say, "Haiti has consistently ranked among the most corrupt countries in the world on the Corruption Perceptions Index and Haiti's government has been notorious for its corruption."

Wikipedia further states that, "Foreign aid makes up approximately 30–40% of the national government's budget with the largest donor being the United States and President Obama pledged $100 million in US assistance in 2010". This was before the earthquake.

Now the purse strings of the Treasury will be cut and a flood of our dollars will go to Haiti. Unfortunately it will be earmarked to the greed and graft of the government beaurocracy sitting in power. Why? Because that is the way it is in Government. No oversight, no accountability and no leadership. Just throw money at the problem; our money, yours and mine. Who dares to question in this time of peril when people are hurt and in need? I don't question the aid to the people in need, but I damn well question sending our money to a den of known thieves. And you should too.

Health care plan to raid Retiree's income.

The "plan of the day" for healthcare is to raise the money to pay for it by increasing the range of taxes to include dividends, capital gains and "other forms of unearned income". Now that the unions have scared hell out of Obama for taxing current union provided health plans he is off on a different tangent. "Raid the accounts of the retired". I favor reform, but not this plan.

There is Dumb, now we have Dumber.

Remember when we saw "Dumb and Dumber"? Well, it is being reincarnated by AZ State legislator, Rep. Judy Burges, R-Skull Valley. It appears that she cannot contribute anything to solving the budget crisis so she is resurrecting an old issue. Referencing the old news that "Obama is not an American citizen", she is now proposing a law to require that any presidential or vice-president candidate must prove to the AZ Secretary of State that they are in fact a citizen. I read an AZ Daily Star article today, authored by Howard Fischer, Capitol Media Services, and he puts a pretty good spin on the issue. Maybe the fact that she represents "Skull Valley" sheds some light on where she is coming from.

America Rising and message from We the People

This video "An Open Letter to Democrats" really says it all. Although it singles out Democrats, it should bode as a warning to all politicians who fall under the spell of special interests and the spend and tax philosophy of Congress.

Healthcare skullduggery behind close doors.

Now that the Democratic controlled Senate has bribed their members sufficiently and the Unions have threatened President Obama with the voting bloc they control, maybe it is time to have Congress practice the "transparency" they assuage to. The first order of business should be to let CSPAN televise the closed door hearings being attended by Democrats only on the healthcare resolution.

RRR: Reid's Racial Remarks

Isn't it amazing that Senator Harry Reid, (Dem) Nevada and President Obama are ready to put Reid's racial slurs behind them. Just chalk them up as a poor choice of words says Obama. One must wonder what the consequences would have been if the same remarks were attributed to a Republican??

“Turns out Hillary Rodham Clinton was right all along,” declared Charles Hurt, Washington, D.C. bureau chief for the New York Post.

Obama is a "WIMP" (capital letters) on terrorism. Actually it's starting to look like he is an all around wimp but that is another post in itself. For now I will stick to "Terrorism". I have to admit that Hillary and a few others were right on about this. First he goes to the mid east and tells them that America wants to be their friend. Then he goes to Europe and extends an apology for our "Arrogance". Now he says we don't connect the dots????? Well friends, I connected the dots and they point out that our eloquant speaking president is nothing more than that. An eloquent speaker. That equates to "all talk and no substance". Maybe Harry Reid, (D) Nevada, Senate Majority whip was right after all??????

Check out what Charles Hurt with the New York Post has to say about this issue.
